SQLite Databases: Treasure Trove for the Digital Forensicator – Part 2

In this second of her two-part article, Kala Baskar looks at an intelligent approach used when extracting SQlite database evidence from personal computers. IOS and Android mobile phones have become ubiquitous with the prevalence and functionality of mobile devices increasing significantly over the last few years. Devices including smart phones and tablets are being increasingly referred for digital investigation, criminals and terrorists as well as being frequently used in prisons, despite being prohibited, are using them. Evidence retrieved from such devices has been instrumental in solving serious crimes. Data exfiltration also occurs in public organizations and the corporate sector by using such devices. A formalized triage of the acquisition process is therefore needed.
